Through my combined therapies I aim to work alongside you, tailoring my services to an approach that feels right for you. My aim is that you can learn the skills and practices to keep yourself healthy and feeling great!
The therapies I currently offer include Counselling in which I offer you a safe, confidential, respectful space in which you can explore and resolve personal difficulties or issues and to understand yourself on a deeper level, thereby feeling equipped and empowered to make informed choices and live an authentic life. Areas covered can include Anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, divorce, addiction, sexuality and gender identity or abuse, disability including ABI and degenerative conditions or general low mood or lack of motivation or direction.
Life Coaching helps you get from where you are in your life now, to where you want to go. I will help you identify your goals, then support you, help you to keep motivated and hold you accountable to achieving your vision for yourself. Whatever it is that you want in your life, I will help you get there.
Supervision helps you to thrive not just survive in the workplace, a supportive and creative space to explore ideas and approaches, to manage your/teams work load and to prevent or reduce high levels of stress and to improve and enhance professional (and personal) relationships. I work with other counselling practitioners and students, Charity workers, Carers, Social workers, Health workers, those in helping professions and self employed people who recognise the benefits of exploring and discussing work related topics with an impartial but supportive professional. Although many organisation provide in-house supervision, often people prefer to seek additional, confidential support outside of their organisation
Mindfulness practice is about learning to purposefully pay attention to the present moment, right here, right now. Clinical studies have shown that people who regularly practice mindfulness are less stressed, less anxious or depressed. Have less emotional labiality and negative thoughts, can recover more quickly from illness, have greater self-esteem, and better relationships. In addition, people are better able to concentrate and are more productive. Addictive behaviours are reduced as are pain and fatigue. I run regular 8 week groups and courses and also work one to one. Many organisations recognise the benefits of offering Mindfulness training to employees as it helps reduce sickness absence, increases productivity and enhances working relationships.
Tai Chi Chuan is an ancient Chinese health system which exercises and relaxes the whole body, through regular practice you will have increased balance and coordination and studies have shown that elderly people experience less falls. You will improve your posture, reduce physical aches and pains and increase your energy levels. Additional benefits are akin to the benefits of mindfulness practice but exercises can be tailored to particular ailments and areas of bodily tension caused by postural imbalance and repetitive strain. Tai chi practice teaches us to breathe fully and naturally which greatly benefits our respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Regular practice improves our mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
In addition to the above, I also provide postural alignment.
